Cyberlink’s HD DVD and Blu-ray MCE integration

We had a chance to check out Cyberlink’s latest version of PowerDVD Ultra at CES Unveiled and at first we were very impressed that there is a Vista Media Center plugin for HD DVD and Blu-ray. We were wondering how we were going to be able to enjoy either next gen format on our Media Center PCs, but we didn’t quite expect it work like this. Rather than installing a simple CODEC like we do for DVD when you choose play HD DVD or Blu-ray from the Vista Media Center menu it minimizes Media Center and launches Cyberlink PowerDVD Ultra. Yeah we agree it is pretty lame, maybe version 2 will work better.
