Well,I don’t know whom to blame exactly.I wrote a mail to Hauppauge whether they have come with any solution regarding Live TV problem (no picture or choppy picture or Loss of Signal error) with Vista Ultimate 64 Bit ,4 GB RAM and Win TV PVR 500 TV Tuner card.I received the following mail from Technical Support,Hauppauge Computer Works,New York.I am sure many users have received the same mail all over the globe on this specific issue.
“That issue is a result of severe limitations in the Microsoft DMA architecture for 32 bit bus subsystems in a 64 bit OS environment. This limitation results in buffer starvation at the driver level and thus the frame rate drops to very low levels. Unfortunately there is no simple workaround that we can do for this driver. This problem will very likely not get resolved until Microsoft addresses the DMA issue. We do not expect that happen, for this reason we are offering customers with WinTV-PVR-500 an upgrade offer.
You can upgrade to a HVR-2250 for $75 + plus shipping. The HVR-2250 is the replacement model to the PVR-500.“
So We are screwed.Who is resoponsible?Microsoft or Hauppauge? Why shall I spend extra money for updating when this card has no problem in Windows Media Center 2005 or in Vista 32 Bit Home Premium/Ultimate?
