I already wrote Hauppauge PVR 500 & Vista Ultimate 64 Bit Issue a couple of days ago.I have also emailed Microsoft regarding what they are thinking on this driver issue and waiting eagerly to listen from them.
In the mean while users can try this tweak-not a great one but effective enough to use Hauppauge PVR 500 TV Tuner card under the hood of Vista Ultimate 64 Bit platform. If you have 4GB RAM or more you have to shed off that-well not by removing the memory stick from your mother board off course.
So here goes what you have to do:-
Type msconfig in Vista’s Start Search box > Accept UAC permission to continue > System Configuration Utility > Now Click Boot > Click Advanced options..> Put a check against Maximum memory > Make it 4095 > Click OK> Restart the System.
Now open Vista Media Center, click Live TV,you will get perfect picure-No Green Screen,No Black Screen,No Loss of Signal error,No Digital Audio Error.
So enjoy if you are happy with this very specific TV tuner card.
Updates:-
I have just received a mail (28th October,2008) from Microsoft eHome Core Platform Team-
“This is a known issue with this Hauppauge card, unfortunately, and we have no fix for it. The problem resides in the driver for this card.
The only solutions are to reduce the amount of RAM in the machine to 3gb instead of 4gb or to change the tuner card…”
So it all ends here.
