Fixing Xbox Music songs will not play with error 0xc101008f

Problem:-

Trying to play songs using Xbox Music with my Surface RT.The songs will start to play then error out with the following:

Can’t play because the item’s file format is not supported.  Check the store to see if this item is available there

Resolution:-

You need to uninstall and reinstall music app.To do this:-

  1. Find the Music app which you want to remove on the Start screen or with Search
  2. Swipe down to select the Music  app or right click on it. When you do this, app commands appear at the bottom of the screen.
  3. Tap or click Uninstall.
  4. From the Start screen, open Store.
  5. Type Music
  6. Touch Store.
  7. Touch Music in the store.
  8. Touch Install.

  1. So what about videos which is MY issue. They play, then I get that error the next time I try to play it. Also, I cannot tell which program is being used. When I right click on the icon there is no “open with choice~
