Fixing Windows Media Player Security Upgrade (2.5.0.1) Issue

Problem:-

I use Overdrive Media to download audiobooks from the local library.  When I try I get a message that says “Unable to acquire a license to play the selected title.  The selected title requires a newer version of the Windows Media Player security upgrade (2.5.0.1) than is currently installed (2.5.0.0).  Please upgrade the security of your windows Media Player by selecting”.

Resolution:-

1.If you are running Windows Media Player or,Windows Media Center then close it.

2.Go to Start menu,All Programs and locate Internet Explorer.

3.Right click on it’s icon and select Run as administrator.

4.Open Internet Explorer, click Tools and then internet options.

5.Now click the Security tab under Internet Explorer.

6.Uncheck the box against Enable Protected Mode box, and click/tap on Apply.

7. Now visit:-

and click Upgrade button.
