Problem:
Whenever I try to use Windows Media Player I receive the following error message:
The file wmploc.dll has a version number of 12.0.9600.xxxxx where 12.0.9600.yyyyy was expected.
Windows Media Player was not installed properly and must be reinstalled.
Resolution:
Option:1
Press W + S keys and type in : cmd and hit the Enter key.
Right-Click on cmd and select “Run as administrator”.
In the Command Prompt type the following and press Enter:
UNREGMP2.EXE /UPDATEWMPVERSION
Close the command prompt after running the above command.
Run Windows Media Player.
Option:2
a. Open command prompt.
b. Type “regsvr32 wmp.dll”without the quotes in the command prompt and press Enter key.
See if Windows Media Player works.
Option 3:
Open Control Panel, Programs and Features,Turn Windows features on or off, Media Features, clear Windows Media Player checkbox, Yes, OK, Restart the PC.
Open Control Panel, Programs and Features,Turn Windows features on or off, Media Features, set the Windows Media Player checkbox, Yes, OK, Restart the PC.
