“Your current security settings to not allow this action” Error When Trying To Open .swf File in WMP12 in Windows 8.1

Problem:

I’m trying to open a local flash file (.swf) in  Windows Media Player 12 and keep getting the security alert:  ‘Your current security settings to not allow this action‘.

Resolution:

It is related to the Local Machine Zone Lockdown feature.

The Local Machine Zone Lockdown feature prevents WMP from loading the Flash player control. You can modify the following registry to resolve the issue.

1. Press Win + R keys to open Run menu and in the blank space type in:regedit and press the Enter key to open the Registry Editor.

2.Now locate the following registry location and change the Dword value as shown below.

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\Lockdown_Zones]

3. Scroll down to value name 1200 present in the right pane.You will find the default value data  is 3.

4. Double click on it  1200 and change the value data to 0

5. Close the Registry Editor.
