Surface Screen Turned Red

Problem:

‘Surface 2 Pro’ is now displayed as white characters on a small black background with the rest of the screen a bright red.  How do I fix this?

Resolution:

If you reinstall Secure Boot keys it will fix the issue:

  1. With the Surface powered off, press and hold the Volume Up button.
  2. Power on the Surface , holding the Volume Up button pressed the entire time.
  3. Once the Surface enters into the UEFI interface, select “Install Default Secure Boot Keys” and select “Yes” to cause the Surface to load the default secure variables.
  4. Make sure that the “Secure Boot” option is enabled, exit setup, choosing “Yes” to save the configuration changes.
