Missing Safely eject a USB drive in Windows 10

Problem:

I use a couple of USB disk drives (WD Passport 500GB, and Seagate 4TB) and when I connect these the “safely eject” icon that used to appear in Windows 7 pro doesn’t. Also there is no eject item on the drive context menu. Any suggestions for safely ejecting these (and any other) drives, please?

OS Windows 10 Pro 32b, on Dell Optiplex 7010

Resolution:

Nothing changed …it is very much there. Just click on Show hidden icons you will find Safely remove Hardware and Eject Media.

  1. One of my computers with Windows 10 (from update install) does NOT have the show hidden icons carrot ^ My other computer with windows 10 does… and I don’t know why the difference. Obviously I cannot follow the above instructions on the one that does not.

  2. Right click anywhere in your taskbar, select Properties. Under the Taskbar tab beside the Notification area field, click on the Customize button. In the newly opened window, click on the Select which icons appear on the taskbar link. OR… simply select Show ALL notifications
