Microphone is not working in Windows 10

After updating from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10 my microphone has stopped working.

  1. Try a different USB port.
  2.  Uninstall and reinstall sound card driver. Type “Device Manager” in your search box .Expand the “Sound, video and game controllers” . Expand that to locate the Sound Card Driver and right   click on it to select Uninstall.
  3.  Press Win + R keys to launch Run menu and copy -paste mmsys.cpl and hit the Enter key.

Under Playback tab right-click your “Default Device” and click “Properties”

Go to “Enhancements Tab” and uncheck the box against “Disable all sound effects”

4. You may need to uninstall and reinstall HDAudio present under “Sound, video and game controllers” under the Device Manager.
