Fixing fssfltr.sys Error


I did a restart last night and had a Windows 10 update but after the update the BSOD appeared and gave me the following error:

Driver_irql_not_less_or_equal (fssfltr.sys)


fssfltr.sys is a Microsoft Windows family safety filter driver system driver file.

If you are able to boot in Safe mode then:

Using DISM Command:

I) Press Windows + x on your keyboard.

ii) Select Command prompt (Admin) to open Administrator Command Prompt .

iii) In the Administrator: Command Prompt window, type the following commands. Press the Enter key after each command:
     dism.exe /online /cleanup-image /scanhealth
     dism.exe /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth

Using sfc /scannow

a. Click on Start button and type cmd in search box.

b. Right-click on Command Prompt and select Run as administrator.

c. Type the following command and hit Enter.

sfc /scannow

Run Power shell Command:

  1. Open the Task manager.  Here’s a tip:  Press CTRL+Shift+ESC.
  2. Click File > Run New Task
  3. Make sure you have a check mark beside “Create this task with administrative privileges”
  4. Type Powershell

Type the following in the Powershell prompt:

Get-AppXPackage -AllUsers | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register “$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml”}
