End of sales with Windows preinstalled ended on 31st October,2016. Due to this no OEM machine with Windows 7 Professional or Windows 8.1 will be available further.
Earlier Windows 7 Home Basic, Home Premium and ultimate ended on 31st October,2014. While Windows 8 retired on 30th June,2014.
I have upgraded from Windows 8.1 Professional to Windows 10 Professional. But I am unable to activate OS as it says:
Connect to the Internet to activate Windows -though you are connected to the internet.
This is a fault from Microsoft’s end. It is an activation service issue. Microsoft is working on the issue with their service and your PC will automatically activate once the service issue is addressed. So be patient.
Microsoft has published the upgrade paths to Windows 10.Here it is:
I am running Windows 8.1. When I try to open mail app I get the following error:
“Reconnect to the internet and sync to get the rest of this message”
Why it’s happening?
It may happen if there is an issue with synchronization of the mail app.
To fix the issue try the followings:
Run the Microsoft Accounts troubleshooter.
Run the app troubleshooter
Try to manually sync your app licenses :
- Open Windows Store.
- Tap or click Settings.
- Tap or click App updates.
- Tap or click Sync licenses.

The OneDrive troubleshooter is a tool that can find and automatically fix these common problems with OneDrive in Windows 8.1 and Windows RT 8.1. Remember it does not work on Windows 10 CTP.
The following issues are fixed:
OneDrive doesn’t appear in the left pane in File Explorer.
Even though you’re connected to the Internet, you can’t connect to OneDrive.
Some of your OneDrive files or folders are missing on your PC.
Some files or folders won’t upload from your PC to OneDrive.
The OneDrive icon doesn’t appear in the notification area, at the far right of the taskbar. (In Task Manager, the sync engine process doesn’t appear.)
You get the message “You don’t have permission to save to this location. Contact the administrator to obtain permission.”
