Problem:-
I have upgraded my OS from Windows 7 Home Premium to Windows 8 Consumer Preview. Since then I am not getting any sound.
Resolution:-
Generally this problem is associated with audio driver. As Windows 8 Consumer Preview has not launched finally so there may be problems with audio driver.
1]First try to install the necessary driver via Windows Update.
2]Uninstall and reinstall the audio driver. Right click right-click on the driver, and select Troubleshoot Compatibility.
Click Try Recommended Settings, and in the next window, click Start the Program.
3] Open Control Panel. Click on Sound icon. Make sure Speakers are set as Default Device.
4] Type in Services.msc to open Services (Local). Here check the following services have started and running. If not right click on each and select Start. :-
. Windows Audio
• Multimedia Class Scheduler
• Remote Procedure Call
• Windows Audio Endpoint Builder
5] Sometimes if you get error 1297 when starting audio services:-
Open cmd and right click on it and select run as Administrator and type in the following command:-
secedit /configure /cfg %windir%\inf\defltbase.inf /db defltbase.sdb /verbose
Hit Enter Key.
6] Reboot.
I have found a fix for it guys. All you have to do is download the Realtek High Definition Audio Codecs at http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/ and install it! It worked for me! Hope it works for you too. Good luck guys!
